Homeschool Copywork - TOS Review

The teaching of Language Arts in homeschooling is comprised of a lot of subjects, and can take a lot of different forms. This includes Grammar, spelling, handwriting, literature, reading, and writing. One practice that is really useful in improving handwriting is copywork. This is where Homeschool Copywork, one of our latest review product comes in. We were blessed to have been given a Lifetime Membership to their site. As a classically minded homeschooler, I am a strong believer in copywork not only as a great handwriting practice tool, but also as a tool to consolidate the other aspects of the Language Arts through the copying of right spelled words, good punctuation, and well phrased sentences. I have not always included copywork in my homeschool, but it has always been one of those subject that I value as a great benefit to my boys. That is why I was very glad to receive this membership.

What is Homeschool Copywork and what do they offer?

Homechool Copywork is a homeschool curriculum that offers you a collection of copywork worksheets gathered in e-books, spanning a wide and interesting array of themes. Their copywork worksheets can be used by elementary (early and/or upper), as well as Middle and High school students.

At Homeschool Copywork, you will find copywork worksheets on:

  • And many more ....
These copywork worksheets comes in print or cursive and are very nicely illustrated. The worksheets are perfect for handwriting practice, both for young and older children. I used this with both my 10 and 12 year old, as a way for them to practice their handwriting, which can certainly be improved. The bonus with these is that as they practice their handwriting they get to read and write Scripture, or great lines of literature, and as such these worksheets are great additions to any homeschool curriculum. Each page is not too long, so the actual writing does not take much time out of the homeschool day.

It is very easy to include it in the daily routine. This works really well for any homeschool, but especially in Charlotte Mason and classical homeschool homes. They fit really well with any study as well,  as they can be used as notebooking pages for a variety of topics, and be included in unit studies. These also include pictures that your younger children could color in as well.

For this review I had my boys work on the Armor of God copywork e-book and quotes from composers. I printed all the pages, and they work on one page everyday, which consisted of one verse each. My boys being older they did not care so much about the pictures, but enjoyed the quotes they copied. I like that this can be used quite independently of the parent. It is nice to check their writing as they copy in order to correct any wrong hold or strokes, but by and large, it is a quite independent curriculum.

Check their website and try out the free membership which allows you to check out some of their worksheets.

Reformation Day Giveaway

We are approaching October 31, which is an important date for all protestants. This date commemorates Martin Luther’s nailing of his ninety-five theses to a church door on October 31, 1517 in Wittenburg, Germany, which in turn provoked a debate that resulted in what we now call the Protestant Reformation. As the “Father of the Reformation”, Martin Luther is a vital figure in Church History. His sacrifice and willingness to wage battle against the spiritual, religious, and political powers of his medieval world allowed Christians throughout time to embrace the following truths: salvation by grace alone , through faith alone,  and in Christ alone, along with the supremacy of Scripture, referred to as  Scripture alone, and all of it for God's Glory Alone. These being commonly called the Five Solas of the Reformation.  Danika Cooley, author and creator of the Bible curriculum Bible Road Trip ,  has recently written a book for young people recounting Luther's story:   When
